CAS Stencil: Layered Stenciling two stencils used
Double Trouble: Birthday Blowout Birthday card and sponged gesso
Simon Says Wednesday: Use a Die
This was going to be difficult because to make something CAS AND Layer two stencils is a big order for a small area. This Text Vellum paper was smacked on acetate that had shimmer sprays on it. Once dry I placed the swirl stencil and sponged on white gesso, allowed to dry then pallet knife to apply black glitter gel through second stencil. Stamped sentiment in black then die cut. Used swirl stencil to dry emboss card front. Cut two more tag shapes in black and adhered with top slightly offset.
From the CAS Stencil challenge site, they linked several tutorial videos on layering with stencils. One of the best tips I gleaned from viewing these is to start your layers with the lightest color and then add color intensity as you add layers. This idea sure kept my crafting on a direction with a project that started with very little planning.

Pretty card, Bonnie! Using the double stencil technique is a great way to add texture and interest and still keep the card CAS. Thank you for playing along with us at Double Trouble Challenge #56.

What an eye-catching card, Bonnie! Love the way you chose black stenciling to contrast with your background. Then offsetting the black label definitely enhanced this avant garde design! Hi Bonnie. Beautiful design! Love how you’ve kept your card CAS by having your image panel cut into a beautiful shape. The swirly bottom stenciling looks fabulous with the colours you’ve used and love the contrast with the black gel stenciled for your top layer. The white dry embossing on your card front also helps to keep this a CAS design. Great work! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Stencil!

This is beautiful. I like the hint about layering the colors from lightest to darkest, too. That’s a great way to not mute the colors.
