Off the Edge

A very dear family friend passed away this week so I am needing several condolence cards. She is survived by three grown children and her husband all living in different states.

This was stamped and heat embossed with platinum powder on Text Vellum and then water colored. It is a large stamp that I got this summer and never got it inked up. This paper like medium stands up to the water but is very thin. Once dry I trimmed it down and adhered a heavy cs piece behind that was smaller. Ran those two pieces through embossing machine and got a very cool frame effect plus it flattened the water color piece perfectly. The original Text Vellum had the sentiment heat embossed but it was smeared so I cut a tag and re-stamped the sentiment and heat set that.

Am loving how my tray of colorburst activated then allowed to dry paints are working. The shimmer on the purple flowers and yellow wash around them is great. I just spray the trough of the color I want to use with water and I have bright color with shine.

Challenge I am entering

  1. I LOVE the platinum embossing and the way you’ve colored this beautiful image, Bonnie! The label with the sentiment looks like it should be there. Sometimes those smudges work good! I’m sorry you need the sympathy cards. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!

  2. Oh my..Gorgeous stamped and heat embossed in gold flowers, Bonnie. I love how you reactivated your Color Burst inks to watercolor your beautiful flowers. I have done that with Brushos and it always works well as you have more control over the paints. Love your
watercolor wash behind your flowers and gold heat embossed sentiment. So sorry for your loss. Your dear friends will treasure your cards filled with love and thoughtfulness. So pleased you joined us at CAS Mix Up. Love and Hugs..Nancy

  3. Bonnie, I’m so sorry for the loss of your friend. Your card is stunning and will definitely bring encouragement to the family. I like how you used the embossing to create a border and flatten all at once. I’ll have to try that trick.
