New Idea with Gilding Flakes

Challenges
CAS Stencil: Gilding Flakes
Allsorts: Something New
Double Trouble: Hip to be Square

The challenge over at CAS Stencil was to use gilding flakes, which I do have some. But what I don’t have is the paste that they recommend you use to apply it through a stencil. I decided to try to add the flakes through the stencil to the sticky side of sticker making paper. What you are left with is the negative space still sticky so I thought to add something new, potato starch. This was great because it is quite absorbent and very white. I could then add sponged on ink in yellow and orange then spritzed with water. Rubbed the outer edge with black ink pad. Then decided to cut into two squares and added a square vellum piece to meet the challenge at Double Trouble. The sentiment was cut with the Silhouette in reverse on the same sticker maker paper then flakes rubbed on and that got adhered to vellum piece. All are mounted on white cs base.

Got started using potato starch after watching Alton Brown make gravy with it years ago. Plus it is gluten free.

  1. You are quite creative with your mixed media….like the background colors and that you added the vellum to soften some of the color. Very pretty card. Thanks for sharing with us at Double Trouble.
