Embossed Vellum-Water Color

There’s still time to play in this challenge

This is a small note card, only 3 1/2×4 1/4. The vellum was dry embossed with this daisy embossing folder then ran through Xyron such that the sticky would be on the mountain side of embossing. Mounted vellum on copy paper and trimmed to fit card base. Water colored valley space of vellum. Stamped sentiment with black ink and used black Inkssentials Enamel Accent for flower centers.

You have to like the messiness of the water color bleeding through to appreciate this technique. My thought was that the valley’s would hold the water color but the cracks made in the vellum during the dry embossing process proved too great to hold the liquid color. So this is one of those first attempts that you say “OK, not what I was thinking it would be but I do kind of like it”.

  1. Your daisies are so pretty and soft dry embossed on vellum and watercoloured. I love the colours you’ve used with are calming and delicate with the contrast of the black centers. Thanks again for being our Guest Designer this month at CAS Mix Up!

  2. This is such a pretty card Bonnie. Funny how we work on an idea and it doesn’t come out the way we think it might, but the results are great anyway. I love the softness of the colours and the ideas you give us with this effort.
