New Embossing Folder

When I purchased this new embossing folder I knew I was going to make a die out of the center flower. To accomplish this I dry embossed white cs, fussy cut the flower and greenery, scanned it into laptop as a jpeg then reversed the b&w. Imported that image into Silhouette, selected trace image tool and used that image to cut this flower to white cs then dry embossed before adding water color, markers and gel pens. BG embossed piece is the scrape leftover from fussy cutting and stripe strips are sheets I print on white waterproof sticker paper then cut fine strips. This paper works great because it is tough when cutting such small strips and it has adhesive already attached. Works great if you want to use paper to die cut, too. I keep several sheets of varying widths of stripes handy. Gold braid was tied in bow and arranged then stuck down with rolled up glue dots. Found if I heat the braid with heat gun slightly while in the shape I want, it shrinks ever so much and stays in that shape. This is a small side fold note size card.

Fussy cut piece then scanned then revered color. Tried embossing then cutting dark cs but too hard to see where to cut.
This is a jpeg of the svg file I used to cut the flower. Feel free to use this should you have the same ef.

Thanks for sharing your time with me, now I am sharing this with:

  1. Love how you came up with a way to cut out parts of your embossed images; thanks for sharing your instructions. Great tip on adding heat to the gold cord to keep it’s shape as well. The color you added to your die cut looks great; beautiful against the white!

    1. Thanks LIsaK, It is really fun to see the water color fall into the nooks and crannies of the embossing. I am looking at making some gilding wax to play with next.

  2. Beautiful. Embossing folders with matching dies are becoming the latest thing. You’re very clever figuring out how to do it without an actual die. Thanks for the tip about the braid. I will sure give that a try.

    1. Thanks Judy, it has been fun to find ef that make great dies. Only have two so far but am keeping a look out. Don’t know if one can ever have too many ef.
