Water coloring digis

This was suppose to be a CAS but somewhere along the line it got more complicated. The bg is brown cs dry embossed with this foliage ef. I then added gold acrylic paint with my brayer. The greenery and bird are digis I cut out with my Silhouette then used water colors, markers and Posca pens to bring them to life. After adding splatter with watercolor on a brush in gold to the bg I attached the branches. Heat embossed in gold the sentiment on a strip of brown cs and fussy cut then glued that on. Once I added the birds eye with black enamel and shaped its body to round out, I attach with dimensional glue. After mounting to a white cs base I decided it need on more layer of gold so added the thin gold frame. Good thing the embossed bg is lumpy because that makes my thin gold frame not look as crocked as it is.

The Posca pens have been a fun addition to my arsenal of coloring mediums. They are somewhat opaque but are thinner then regular acrylic paint. My bird was colored with the red that was depressed onto the glass mat till a dollop came out. That was thinned even further to get the shades of burgundy I was going for. Still not good at water coloring but am having fun exploring.

Thanks for sharing your time with me, now I am sharing this with:

  1. This is beautiful! The bird is gorgeous as well as the background. It reminds me of a video with Kristina Werner where she used Lunar Paste on the embossed background. I think you achieved the same effect.

  3. OMG…so much to LOVE in your Gorgeous Digi stamped leaves and bird, which you painted beautifully with your Posca acrylic paint pens, Bonnie!! Wow…Loved your dry embossed background and how you used a brayer to add gold acrylic paint. Your framing is beautiful too along with your final touch heat embossing your sentiment. Your card is a work of Mixed Media Art, my friend. TFS…Love and Hugs..Nancy

  4. How beautiful! The gold on the background just brings the embossing to life. I have never used the Posca pens (other than white for highlights), another thing to put on my to-do list, lol! Thanks for sharing with us at Krafty Chicks.
