Aurore Boreales

This was not the direction I had set out for. The bg is white text vellum with shimmer water color paints added then sprayed paper with water to soaking wet to let the colors collide. I thought the effect would be very soft colors with shimmer. They do shimmer but turned out very bold. I let to paper dry on the craft station over night then stamped the trees. The focal tree was first stamped in black but it was not a good stamping, so I re-inked the stamp in dark green and re-stamped. This turned out very cool so I went in with black marker and added limbs and then a fan brush with white acrylic added the snow. Finished off the bg with black and white splatter and trimmed to size. Sponged on some gray with paper mask for rolling hills. Ran the piece through embossing machine with a piece of wall paper to get the rough linen look. Mounted this on white cs base after rubbing edges with black ink pad. Snowflakes are Silhouette cut in white cs and the sentiment was stamped on acrylic then heat set in gold. I hand trimmed the piece and mounted on b&w strip of pp then attached.

Thanks for sharing your time with me, now I am sharing this with:

  3. This is a piece of art Kersey! I love that you described your creative process and rolled with it when things didn’t turn out as you had imagined. Those bold colours work so well for a festive background and I love the embossed texture and the splatters, and I love the dimension you created with your snowflakes and sentiment. Thank you for sharing at the Tic Tac Toe challenge! Vicky x
