Alcohol Ink on Vellum

I don’t really have any alcohol inks so I used what I do have. Which is Homemade Shimmer Sprays (small spray bottle half filled with water then alcohol + color burst and blob of white blue). The green was quite pretty when I dropped several drops on the vellum then blew the liquid across the surface. The vellum went through my sticker maker with some wrinkles but I embraced them just likes the ones on my face. Attach a small piece behind this Silhouette cut frame. Added sticker strip then mounted on white cs base. Once all done I decided it need some bling, so dropped in some gold shimmer spray.

  1. I love how resourceful you are in your craft room – you come up with great ways to use what you have with amazing results. Your homemade alcohol ink created a beautiful panel and looks great with the black and white.

  2. Glad you found a way to make it work for you. It makes an interesting background. I have used alcohol based markers, scribbled on vellum, drop 90% based alcohol and got great results. I think it was a similar process, only used the air puffer from Tim Holtz which as purchased for water based markers. It puffs air and works great for other things. The heat gun helps too. Fun to use what is available to try different things.

  4. Another great background for your leaf frame. You are so clever and knew you would make it work. The gold makes your green section more defined.

  6. Homemade alcohol ink is as good as any especially when the results are equally as pretty. Brilliant way meet the challenge. Framing it with the leafy diecut enhances the feeling of a verdant bower. The gold spatter adds a lot of interest, as well. Thanks so much for adding it to CAS Mix Up’s challenge.
