Only Watercolors

Because the gals over at CAS Mix Up wanted mixed media with watercolors as focal and incorporate flight I created this. After stamping the single lady bug in black across the white text vellum piece I used red watercolor to fill in the bodies. Once dry I die cut the frame circles then mounted that on red cs on white cs base. The sentiments were cut on the Silhouette in white layering weight cs. Keeping with the theme I colored the word Follow with black watercolor then set with glaze. Mounted both the sentiments and called it done.

Normally I would have colored the sentiment with a sharpie but I was very pleased with the watercolor. It stayed very black and dried flat. This really opens up the colors for my die cut sentiments and tags. Thanks gals.

  1. Count me a ladybug fan. They can march all over my garden anytime. They’re cute for the flight theme as well as for your sentiment, and the bit of red peeking out is just right on your CAS card. Thanks so much for joining us at CAS Mix Up!

  2. You have greater fine motor skills than I do! I don’t think I would attempt to watercolor a single ladybug, let alone 8 of them! This is an unusual design, and I love it. (We just bought 3000 ladybugs to attack the aphids in our young red maple tree….what an experience! They were crawling all over me as I tried to release them from the bag. The odd thing is that we didn’t find one ladybug the next day! Doesn’t the song say, “Fly away home”?
