This Really is “New”

This is going to sound way more complicated than it is and the fun factor is off the charts. I watched Shenna Douglass video and got inspired to use her technique with a twist. I cut the word Dad with my Silhouette on Waxed Freezer Paper. Then copied the free art work, found on the internet, on white tissue paper. Ironed the word dad and the insides of the letters on layering weight white cs. Added thinned white glue to word area and attached the printed tissue paper. While the tissue was still wet I removed the freezer paper mask leaving the tissue paper in the void of the letters. Ironed the reverse of the letter on top and then sprayed two colors of oxide spray. Removed mask and smeared thin layer of clear gesso over entire surface. Trimmed then run the piece through the circles ef. Rubbed the edges with black ink pad and attached to white cs base.

The setting for my Silhouette to cut freezer paper with the shinny side down is blade set at 7, force set at 7 and speed of 5 with one pass. Cut great and removed off of the sticky mat perfectly. When I added the glue I did not fuss with it, some got on the freezer paper which did not hurt a thing. Removing the mask while asking the tissue paper to tear and stay behind was a little tricky but doable. Smearing the gesso added a shimmer but did bleed onto the white letters, which I don’t mind, but if you want the white to say white skip that step.

  1. So fun that you were able to take her idea, using what you had, make it work for you. Very different kind of card, but it looks neat. I like the circles.

  2. Thanks for sharing the video. I’ll take a look at it but I’m pretty sure this is way too complicated for me. Love the background you created and the colors.

  4. I like this Bonnie. The embossed circles add some great detail. And I like the little image in the second D of Dad. He looks like a happy man in his boat. Thanks for sharing with us at Try It on Tuesday. Hugs-Erika
