This is an interesting color combo I would probably not thought of all on my own. But as a challenge it was fun to play with stencil butter in purple and a few stencils and one huge lesson learned. To create the mandala I used a stencil and the purple stencil butter with a pallet knife on white text vellum. After that dried I placed a stencil wet with the remains of trying to added color burst through a leaf stencil that lost most of its leaf pattern but added tons of teal color. Trimmed the piece to fit a mini slimline and rubbed the edges with butter then attached to white cs base. The sentiments were created and cut on the Silhouette with layering weight white cs. Added the stencil butter in the purple with a pallet knife to the cut out and once dried attached to the tag. Popped the tag up with foam tape.
As for the lesson learned: Do not try to use a stencil brush to add liquid created from color burst. The color goes into the base of the brush and I can not seem to get it all out.

Thanks for coming to visit my blog. I thought I’d pop in to yours. I like the purple and teal combo especially when creating Christmas cards. Your card is lovely. I did have to go look up what stencil butter is. I’ve tried using my stencils with embossing paste and all I created was one good card and a stencil that I just about ruined because it took an eternity to get the paste off and not all of it came off. And that was working quickly I thought. Sigh, there’s got to be a better way.

You will like the butters then, they are smooth and creamy. Clean much easier. Try modeling paste too. It is not at hard to work with as embossing paste and cleans easier also. I have found that a soft fingernail brush and soap does wonders on stuck on stencils.

I really like these colors together! As for your lesson learned, I have a friend that gets after me trying to clean everything well, because “tools are supposed to have stuff in/on them, so you know they are being used.” As long as the color doesn’t come out on something else, don’t worry about it. (Easier said than done.) I love the fun things you have been doing with your stencil butters.

This is a very artsy take on our colours, looks fab with all the dimension. Not come across stencil butter before but I agree powdered inks do get everywhere, even if you think you’ve cleaned it all up! Thanks for joining us at Color Hues. 🙂
