Not just yellow & gray

Oh no this is not yellow & gray but Pantone colors of the year ” Illuminating & Ultimate Gray “. The image is from Free SVG with a search of butterflies but Terry thinks this is a dragonfly. I think maybe he is right. I printed in the gray on white Text Vellum. Colored with marker in the yellow and water color to shade in the gray. Cut a paper stencil and dabbed Mod Podge on wings then sprinkled with glitter. Once dry I added details with black and white gel pens. Smeared thin coat on entire surface of clear gesso, trimmed to fit and mounted on gray cs mat on white cs base with Silhouette cut die.

I ended up with several variations of this image, looking for the just right details. Which do you like best?

I am so happy with the glitter, especially with the clear gesso, no stray glitter flying around. I had spent some time yesterday cutting several different boarders and now have them in a binder for easy access.

  1. Both are awesome and would agree that it’s a dragonfly. The depth you achieved on the wings look like tapestry work. If I really had to choose, the top one looks more elegant.

  2. I also agree that it looks like a dragonfly. It is a very pretty image. I like all of yours versions, but I think the center one is my favorite, though no particular reason why.

  3. Wow, such beautiful details on those dragonflies! I love them both but the yellow border adds a nice warmth on the second card. Elegant cards, thanks so much for playing along at Color Hues!
