Photo to Sketch

There was really nothing wrong with the photo of this baby horse we foal out a few years ago, it just was not a good fit for this card. The plaid was made for the color challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments. Which I added leaf stencil with my new Orchid color stencil butter. Sentiment tag was cut on the Silhouette and stamped in black ink. Greenery was also Silhouette cut and water colored and shaped then painted white glue to help them keep their shape. I rubbed the edges of the plaid piece with black ink pad and then attached all to a white cs base.

Here is where I found the site that allows you to create your photo to a sketch. It is in beta so not sure it will always be free, but for now go play and see what you come up with. Here is a side by side of my first stab at this technique

Very fun to see the result in two clicks. I did coat the sketch printed on Text Vellum with clear gesso to help keep the colors true and add a sheen to the paper.

  4. That’s a lovely idea – and what a gorgeous foal – how magical. I love that you’ve incorporated it into your card – I might have a go at doing this for my daughter’s horse for a special occasion. Thanks for sharing with us at HSS this week.
