Off Season for a Reason

Ever since I got my Xyron Creative Station I had the thought I should find a way to use it with tissue paper. To that end I ordered the Xyron Create a Sticker dispenser with repositionable adhesive. The difference from my original purchase machine and this one is that the sticker version has only one layer as it comes out of the machine and creates a peel and stick, where as the first one you have to remove the cover film. This proved too problematic for the flimsy tissue paper. But with the peel and stick the tissue is firm enough to let you place it and still hold together. The tissue once attached has much the same look and feel of washi tape.

I was searching my fav site for images at Graphics Fairy for something else and came across this gem. Sunflowers are always in season at my house. I taped white tissue paper to a sheet of copy paper and printed this image in black ink. Trimmed to the black lines and ran that tissue paper through Sticker Xyron. Peeled backing and attached to Text Vellum in white. Water colored and coated surface with clear gesso to lock in the coloring. I then trimmed the image such that I removed the black boarder lines and left the image. Layered this on white copy paper with black marker along edges for mat layer with dot runner.

This was then attached to the white cs base. I added the white Silhouette cut greenery and sentiment.

The water coloring is truly 3 colors straight out of the pan, orange, green and brown. All the shading in the image gave way to tons of depth that I did not have to create.

This image is free for the using, please let me know if you print it and color with tissue paper. That is the fun part of using digi’s: they don’t take up space in the craft room and I am not married to them. No guilt if I only use them once, where as with a stamp I feel obligated to get my moneys worth. And that is without even address the scalability and snip-ability.

  1. Beautiful card! I love Xyron products. I have used repositionable adhesive with my Creative Station, but never with the small X tool. It is the right size for the image. Glad you found a way to make the tissue paper image stick well.

      1. Yes, the X150 Sticker Maker, which is what I was calling the small X machine. My daughter has one and I have used it, but we have never used repositionable adhesive with it. Looks like they have a cube type one now. Looks fun!

  2. Great card – love sunflowers. I saved the Image – will give it a try! The tissue paper I purchased does okay in my Creative Station – maybe it is thicker.

    1. Thanks Diana, I do think yours is thicker. I use the cheapest for lining gifts because I like the way it all but disappears when attached to white paper. It always amazes me how tuff it is and holds up to all that I do to it.
