I had seen a folded frame tutorial years ago but never attempted one, till now. All I could find for instruction was video, which was helpful but lacking in adaptability. Here is the video that got me going. After making the size shown in this video, I went to making one that would work for my A2 size cards. After more attempts than I care to count I came up with one that works for me. Below are the steps I used to make this.
For this folded creation the inserted image was fiery red spray on glass mat and smooched on Text Vellum. I then added stars from a stencil with gold modeling paste. The feather is stamped in black and colored with paint pen in purple. Sentiment was printed on tissue paper and glued on. Added cut down purple sequins and black splatter. There are side accents in ladder pattern cut on Silhouette and sponged in lavender ink then attached. Inserted in folded frame.
I found that 60 lb. or 80 lb. weight cs worked best. Copy paper is too flimsy and 100+ lb. cs does not want to crease smoothly and is too rigid. My finished size is 4 3/8″ x 5 5/8″. Start with cs trimmed to 6 7/8″ x 8 1/8″ then score all four sides at 3/8″, 5/8″, 1″, and 1 1/4″. Cut the corners off at the innermost score line. Measure 3/8″ from this trimmed edge on the short sides, marking a dot at the 2 outermost score lines. Cut fishtails from these dots to the next score line and corner. Finish trimming by connecting the fishtail cuts with a straight section cut.
Do this on the short side for each corner. You will then have this shape. Fold along score lines. I found if I used the edge of this Make Art Stay-tion I could get sharp creases. Fold each side into a tube shape then insert the corners into each other, sliding art in before you complete last side. You can glue the corners if you want but not required.
I made this frame first then unfolded and stamped. I then reshaped with card piece inserted.

Very beautiful!! I really like the stamped frame and that sentiment is quite fitting for me
Very cool framed pieces. Thanks for including the instructions for making the frame. A video is helpful but it’s easier for me to follow along with step by step pictures. The stamped frame is really pretty with the embossed sun. The sentiment is definitely me.
I made one of those a long time ago – it’s difficult to keep it neat and yours looks stunning especially with the vivid colours. Thanks for sharing with us at Stamping Sensations.
Bonnie this looks fabulous, the frame is something I have seen, but never tried, so thanks for the instructions, and it looks fabulous too in thew 2nd version with the stamped frame.

I love both of these. Kudos on going to so much trouble to figure out how to do it in the size you wanted. The sentiment on the second is hilarious.
