In a weak moment I added a green and a blue Oxide spray to my cart. They were on deep discount (both bottles for under $6) and I had avoided the whole Oxide craze for so long that I decided to play with some. This piece was white Text Vellum that I covered the whole thing with white gesso, then cream modeling paste in random, and white modeling paste through mandala stencil, allowing to dry between each step. Spritzed with water then dropped several drops of a blue Oxide spray by un-screwing the spray top and dripping off end of spray tube. Plus dropped several drops on glass mat. Added a drop of glycerin to this pool and sponged the color in areas for more intense color. Once dry I used a sanding block along stenciled area to reveal the cream layer. Coated whole piece with clear gesso. This did give the piece a leather like feel and sheen like alabaster. Stamped the flowers on white Text Vellum and used pooled color to water color the petals and added the green straight out of the bottle to brush to paint the leaves. Once fussy cut I gave them a good spray of shimmer spray to lock in the colors. Mounted with gel for some dimension. Stamped sentiment in black ink directly on piece. Added glossy accents to flower centers.

Thanks Lisa K but it is not embossed, it is modeling paste through a stencil. I have way more stencils than embossing folders so am always looking for ways to use stencils.

All the texture and layers are beautiful. I really like the flowers. I haven’t tried the Oxide sprays but I do have most of the Oxide inks and I really like them. You are really getting your money’s worth out of your stencils.

This is a great card Bonnie! I love your look of the textures, especially that stenciled area. Don’t forget that you can “emboss” through a stencil, too. It’s not as deep of an impression, but it’s still fun. Congrats on your two oxide ink sprays. I have 2 of them that I thought would look good for Christmas cards. Think I actually used them for that, too. I love the different looks you get with the colors and different mediums.

Thanks for that reminder. I have been embossing with my stencils since I got my embossing machine, more than 15 years ago. Mostly because back then I could not afford too much and that made my dollar stretch much further. I even remember entering Gina K challenges with one stamp set cuz that was all I had and the budget would not allow more for another month or so.

I remember those days. I was thrilled, way back at the beginning where you could win without using one of their stamp sets. That was how I got my first one.
