Navy as the base

This is a die cut that I was playing with the other day. I wanted to see if my machine would cut more than one layer at a time. This image was cut in the red cs + copy paper in this plaid + cs of green and white bg. They all cut great. I used the plaid and red reverse of my cut outs for this one. I wanted the copy paper plaid to have more structure so I added clear gesso but some of the leaves stuck to the white paper I was working on causing me to die cut the image again. Mounted this on navy cs then on a white cs base. Sentiment was cut on the Silhouette in white layering weight cs. I only adhered the plaid die cut in the widest areas then bent the leaves and petals so they stood proud and let the navy show through. The extra layer of white actually worked out well where some of the leaves released with the curling I added .I am working on the other cut outs, so check back to see what becomes of them.

Challenges I am sharing this with

Try it on Tuesday: Winter Blues the navy fits the color and the image is intended to chase away those winter blues

  1. This is a great card Bonnie. I’m in agreement, that whether it was planned, or not, the curled leaves are sure fun. The navy peeking out is a lovely contrast, especially with the bright red.
