A few favorite things

One of my favorite challenge sites wanted us to use the bleaching technique. I don’t use bleach so I tried to use the removal of color from this Text Vellum piece with color burst on it with damp rag pressing through mandala stencil. Worked ok but does not show much in this photo. To add more contrast I added white gouache with a brush in some areas then smeared clear gesso to lock in the color and add a sheen. Added the Silhouette cut sentiment and a few sequins then mounted on white cs base.

Mix It Up: Bleaching

Always Fun: Use your favorite products

Sweet Stampin: Thank You

Tip: I have tons of rather large sequins is many colors but find I don’t use them much. They are usually just too large for my projects. I decided to see if I could trim them down. I placed them one at a time on purple tape and used a hand punch to reduce the size. Worked great. This card has star shape and much smaller sequins in a purple/pink. YEA, they may get used now.

  1. Stunning! I have an ink removal stamp – never used it. Might try. Have you ever use peroxide? Love this look and have several Thank you dies. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Neat idea for trimming the sequins. Bleach is hard to use for paper, in my opinion, and can be difficult to come by. We have some, but I am like you and would prefer to use something else. Glad you found a way to do something similar.

  3. So glad you were able to “bleach” without using bleach! Love that you came up with an idea that worked and didn’t go buy something you won’t use. I’m impressed with you figuring out how to make your over large sequins usable. Those are great. You do all sorts of fun things that are inspiration to the rest of us.
