Had not heard of these till I saw this at bloggers site I follow. I made this one to act as my post office on my desk. It holds stamps and return labels. The decoration on mine is very simple. It is cut from a manila letter size file folder. I only had folders with side tabs so this is how those work out. Small tab on the side instead of the large one in the middle. Still works but not as big of a tab. Once cut and folded I added leaf and dot stencil and purple glitter paste to just the front panel. After it was dry I brushed clear gesso over the entire outside of the folder. This adds stability and a smoothness that should help in longevity.

My return labels are used on the back flap of my envelopes. Because I make my own envelopes they don’t have adhesive on the flap so I make my own stickers out of white water proof material. This acts as the return address and sticks the flap down.
New Technique: My return label stickers are printed on 8 1/2×11 sheets so to trim them to fit my folios I learned a new technique. I wanted to have the Silhouette cut the sheets down to size to fit inside but still only cut the top layer for each sticker. Learned how to set the machine up here. This tutorial is about cutting out vinyl but it goes through how to Cut by Color. Works great.

Very cool project. Thanks for including the link with the instructions. I have a lot of old file folders – I’ll have to give this a try.

LOVE this! Such a GREAT idea and so beautifully decorated! I often have extra die cuts and never know what to do with them so they are organized and easy to find. I will be making some of these for sure. Thanks for the inspirations!
