Celebrate Homecoming

This time of year we would normally think of homecoming as it is associated with football but this one is in celebration of some friends who became evacuees of the fires in Estes Park. They were allowed to move back home this week.

The dry embossed bg is trimmings from the previous creation and I used my sewing machine to add bakers twine stitching. Frame is also leftover and mounted on white cs base with white copy paper as mat layer. Cat tails and sentiment are Silhouette cut. Added black splatter to tie the front pieces together.

The guy is a retired Air Force pilot so I think he will appreciate the gears and metal. I know I appreciate the fires ending because of the smoke and soot that has stopped. Our 6″ of snow is all gone and the pastures are once again green. Trees along the river went from green to leather brown because we did get to 13 below zero a few nights ago. Today was 60°. That is how we roll in Colorado.

  1. What a beautiful card. The frame is perfect. I’m glad your friends are able to get back into their home. Wow -13 and I’ve been complaining about it being 40 and windy.

    1. Splatter sure seems to be my go to when I am not sure if I am done yet or not. Having the color burst on a tray that had been water activated then allowed to dry out makes for quick splatter with a water brush.

  2. Gorgeous card. Love the gears and elements. Glad you friends were able to get back into their home with hopefully no damage. Mother Nature is doing her stuff with the weather lately, isn’t she?
