The Library Challenge: Moon Spinners

Fusion: Relaxed Living The blues are not quite what the photo is

Just Add Ink: Sketch The cliffs represent the lines of the sketch.

I found a new to me challenge where a book is selected by hostess and you can use the book cover, the title or something in the story to inspire your creation. The cover called to me so I water colored the bg using black and two blues of re-inkers and a damp brush (Thanks to Kathy for the gift of brushes). Once dry I created the black cliffs with sharpie free hand, added in shadow with two gray copics and stamped in black ink some evergreens. Oh yes, made the moon first thing by creating a circle stencil with a punch and a scrape of cs then pressed Versa Mark and heat set clear powder as a resist, then used yellow ink pad sponged on through stencil once water color was dry. Glued on sentiment that had been cut on Silhouette in white cs. Mounted on fun foam and then white cs base.

Not sure you can see the faint yellow dot in the middle of the lake, but my husband was so impressed that I had created a shadow of the moon. In reality it is a finger print from when I was creating the moon resits. Maybe the oils in my hand caused the water color to turn yellow in that spot. What a great guy to think so highly of me. Man am I blessed.

  2. Beautiful scene and love your artistry that inspired you from the book cover, I remember Moon Spinners the movie. It starred Hayley Mills and probably a Walt Disney movie with some mystery and romance set in Crete….just the type of book I would read and movie for me. LOL. Terry is such a support for your craft.

  3. What an amazing design. You’ve recreated the book cover beautifully. The moon shadow is perfect, and how great of your husband to notice it.
