Sweet Stampin: Bright & Beautiful
The Paper Players: Make you smile
Double D: Purple
I had this idea of using black gesso through a stencil, only problem was I only have white and clear gesso. So I added black acrylic paint to my clear gesso which only turned slate colored. Next I added black color burst to the mix and got a nice jet black. This was added through butterfly stencil onto white cs. Once dry I sprayed with purple shimmer then smacked on purple color burst then blue. The bg got quite dark so added stars heat set in tinsel embossing powder then dry brushed white acrylic paint. Die cut the front panel and of course the tape stuck to the piece. To camouflage this, I used a stencil and white gesso and heat set white embossing paste while the gesso was still damp. The foliage and sentiment tag were Silhouette cut on white cs. They were sprayed with purple shimmer then stamped with white gesso. All is mounted on white cs base.
At the end of the day, this is pretty busy for my liking but the purple did photograph very well and the black gesso worked. I also enjoyed stamping with the white gesso. I put a dollop of gesso on glass mat, smeared thin with credit card and then inked stamp. Gives a distinct impression with a bit of messiness. It does clean off of everything very easy, which is a huge plus. Because today after playing in the craft room I emerged to do a walk around the yard with my husband and he pointed out the white on my upper lip and cheek. We both laughed.
Very pretty. Love your die cut foliage and the purple background behind your cool black butterflies.

The stars are beautiful on the black butterflies and the lovely purple background really makes them stand out. You are sure having fun with the gesso and I guess it figures you’d gesso yourself eventually.

Wow! You went to so much work, but it definitely shows as this is gorgeous! Love that your husband pointed out the white, too. Mine probably wouldn’t notice, or say anything. 😉
