Fun with White Acrylic Paint

CAS Mix Up: Acrylic Paint
Make My Monday: Pink

The good folks over at CAS Mix Up asked that we use acrylic paint and offered several technique videos. I watched the one on Stamping with Acrylics. It was 1:30 long so was right up my alley, that should tell you the length of my attention span. The idea is to brush the paint on a smooth flat surface to a thin wet coat. I used white paint on my glass mat with a 1″ paint brush. Then stamped like it was an ink pad. The transfer was very sharp and clear on the black cs. Once dry I colored in with water color brush and the white paint tinted with pink re-inker. Leaves and stalks were shaded with colored pencil. With the pink paint I spread it thin and then used that to stamp my sentiment. Used a fine black marker to recreate the outline of flower petals. Focal piece is dry embossed along all edges with a thin score line and the back has heavy cs cut to fit inside the score lines for a slight pop up. PP strip was attached to white cs base and then the focal image attached.

This is defiantly something I will do again. Very cool effect and not as messy as I though it would be. Sad the photo looks so purple because the finished piece is more in the pink family.

  1. I agree with Diana – this is stunning. It is very elegant and pretty. I like how you added the pp and then the focal image so it looks like you followed a sketch.

  2. Hi Bonnie! Your tulips are absolutely gorgeous! Great work with the acrylic paints. And the details of adding some colour on top of the white, outlining, etc. makes this very special. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!
