Linen look paper

Challenges
The Paper Players: Sketch from Ann

I had been looking for an embossing folder that would give cs that subtle linen look but to no avail. Then I decided to make my own. There was some ticking material leftover from a pillow project so I cut and glued a piece to white cs. I then created the folder by adding a clear tape hinge and another piece of white cs cover. Spritzed the white layering weight paper with water then ran through embossing folder and got just the look I was hoping for. Then I placed blue ink from pad onto glass mat, spritzed with water and ran brayer in ink then linen paper. Added a few streaks from the edge of the ink pad spritzed with perfect pearls water then layered on white cs base. Added tags in white black and shimmer with some Silhouette cut greenery. Sentiment is Silhouette cut, glued on and shadow lines added with black marker. The challenge at AYSI wanted the card completed in 10 minutes or less. Because I made the pp along with several others as experiments seeing how my linen folder was going to work out and all the other elements were pre-cut it did only take 7 minutes to put this all together.

  1. I love that you went to so much trouble to make just what you wanted. It turned out beautifully! Great job on figuring out how to get what you wanted.

  3. Your linen look textured DIY folder has worked a treat. I love the mix of blues you’ve achieved in your inking too. Just the background for the pretty die cut details. Thank you for playing along with the Speed Challenge at As You See It.

  4. I’m working backwards leaving comments and once again I’m amazed that you created your own linen embossing folder. I love you and your creativity. We were away for a few day and snowflake stencils were my surprise in the mail. Can’t wait to create.

  6. The depth of colour you created in your background is lovely Bonnie and looks like it took ages so bravo on a 7 minute card! Your homemade EF is great too and very enterprising of you – I love my Subtles Embossing Folder that gives a similar effect, it adds just the right amount of texture. Your banners and diecuts are the perfect finishing detail. Thanks for taking on our speed challenge over at As You See It this week!

  7. This is such a cool technique, I would never have thought to create my own EF! And as Joanne said, SU does have a great embossing folder called Subtle, and it creates that nice linen effect! BUT….you’ve got yours and the end result is amazing! I love the bold colors and elements you used and kudos for doing it all under 7 minutes! Thanks for playing with our speed challenge over at As You See It this week!
